Theme: Leadership in a Transforming World

Emerging Trends in Globalization:  Innovation, Education, Environment, Ethics and the Social Sciences

(in memory of Leslie Evans)

 

To prepare leaders to meet the challenges of tomorrow, this conference will focus on innovation futuristic thinking and  emerging  trends in a collegial setting.  The mission of this conference is to provide opportunities for collaboration between professionals, researchers, practitioners, and graduate students from multiple disciplines to share existing and generate new knowledge. Doctorial students are strongly encouraged to participate. We look forward to receiving creative proposals in any academic discipline or profession. 

We are interested in submissions that are both conceptual and empirically based research papers, abstracts, student papers, case studies and work-in progress reports, representing the application of various theoretical lenses to explain the relationships between globalization and innovation, education, environment or ethics. 

 

Please note:  Submissions are limited to one per individual/institution.

In a two-step process, SES requires interested participants to first submit a Proposal/Abstract for Presentation.

 

Suggested topics include:

 

                           • The role of faculty in institutional decision making
                           • Challenges to academic freedom
                           • Increasing access to tenure
                           • Race, gender, and sexual orientation
                           • Furloughs, cutbacks, and salary freezes
                           • Global Issues,  Healthcare,  Diversity,  Leadership
                           • Discrimination in hiring, promotion, and tenure
                           • Education,  Business,  Ethics
                           • Assessment and accountability
                           • Online education: the pros and cons
                           • Art,  Science,  Technology

 

 

Conference Participants:  This collaborative endeavor will include students, faculty and administrators from all levels of education, business leaders, law enforcement, and military officials.  Political, cultural, and civic leaders are also invited.

 

Proceedings:  All papers accepted for the conference will be published in the proceedings (if at least one author is registered to present the paper).  Proceedings will be distributed to all registered conference attendees during the conference.  To be included in the proceedings, papers must be received in final form by September 1, 2010.  In addition, papers may be submitted for consideration to the Society’s peer reviewed journal Scholar and Educator, for publication at a later date.  Details on this process will be discussed at the conference.

  • Criteria for selection of proposal include:
    • Quality of the proposed session (content, design, creativity)
    • Relevance to the conference theme
    • What problem does the proposed paper address?
    • What is the research question?
    • How are you going to answer your research question?
    • Significance of the specific topic to the general audience
    • Does the proposed paper (content, design, creativity) contribute to the literature?

     

     

    We look forward to receiving creative proposals.

    Authors will be notified whether their abstract/proposal is accepted by August 30, 2010.

An email letter of acceptance or rejection (with author guidelines) will be sent by August 30, 2010.

Papers will be published if at least one author is registered and presents the paper.

CONFERENCE REQUIREMENT

Individuals whose papers are selected for presentation at the conference will be notified by August 30, 2010.  ALL presenters must pay the conference registration fee of $300.00 in order to be scheduled in the conference program. The conference registration fee is payable to SES and is due by August 30, 2010.
